The glossy pork salad ( Hyoseris lucida L. , Syn .: Hyoseris radiata subsp. Graeca Halácsy ) is a species of the genus Hyoseris in the sunflower family (Asteraceae).

features

Hyoseris lucida is a perennial rosette hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 6 to 36 centimeters. The leaves are 50 to 250 millimeters in size, evenly serrated, fleshy, glabrous or floury. The side lobes of the leaves are more or less diamond-shaped.

The shaft is hardly thickened. The bracts are 10 to 15 millimeters in size. The inner bracts are fruiting and star-shaped protruding and sometimes finally turned back. The pappus of the outer fruits is up to 1 millimeter long. The outer fruits are compressed and winged, the inner ones rounded and sterile.

The flowering period extends from December to May (rarely until November).

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

Occurrence

Hyoseris lucida occurs in the southern Mediterranean . The species is found in Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Greece, Crete and the Aegean Sea. In Crete, the species grows on sandy coasts by the sea.
