history

The first album Rastaman in Prague was released in 1990.

Since its inception, the group has worked with the Senegalese poet and dancer Bourama Badji . After Badji left the band, the band was joined by singer and rapper Strictly Orange, a former member of the Prague band Skyline . In this phase Hypnotix released an electro-heavy album called Bagua .

Hypnotix have been working on a project called Where the Spirit Lives since 2005 and released an album of the same name in 2006.

The band went on tour until 2009 and, according to their website, has been back in the studio since 2014.

style

The idea was initially to combine hypnotic rhythms with jazz improvisation and rock music . The music is inspired by African rhythms.

Still clearly started as a dub and reggae group, with the collaboration with the Bengali singer Mohsin Mortaba, other influences increased from 2001 onwards. Musically, the group moved with West African rhythms on Indian melody lines.
