In the IHK Nord - Working Group of North German Chambers of Industry and Commerce , 12 North German chambers are united with the aim of representing common interests of the North German economy nationwide and internationally better than the individual chambers could alone.

One of the chambers conducts business for one year at a time. The office of the association is in Hamburg. The IHK Nord operates an office in Brussels to protect its interests in the European Union .

activities
The IHK Nord promotes the north German economy particularly in the areas of port management , maritime technology, research and network economy. Due to the spatial proximity, they work together on infrastructure, the energy industry and tourism . It also sees itself as a center for the automotive industry and the aviation and aerospace . The IHK Nord is one of the supporters of Hamburg's application for the 2024 Summer Olympics .
Since 2013 there has been a cooperation agreement between the IHK Nord and the Wirtschaftsjunioren in the Hanseatic region.
