Iain Brambell

Iain Brambell (* 10. November 1973 in Brentwood Bay , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian lightweight - rowers . He won an Olympic bronze medal.

Career

The 1.85 m tall Brambell began rowing in 1987. At the World Championships in 1997 and 1998 , he competed in the lightweight double scull and finished in 16th place. 1999 reached the Canadian lightweight four without a helmsman at the World Championships in St. Catharines, sixth place in the line-up of Iain Brambell, Chris Davidson , Gavin Hassett and Jon Beare . In the same line-up, the crew missed the A final at the 2000 Olympic Games and finished in seventh place. With Jonathan Mandick for Beare, the Canadians finished fifth at the 2001 World Championships . In Seville in 2002 , Douglas Vandor , Iain Brambell, Jonathan Mandick and Gavin Hassett won the bronze medal behind the boats from Denmark and Italy. With the same cast, the Canadians reached fifth place in Milan in 2003 . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , Brambell, Mandick, Hassett and Beare also finished fifth.

After a year break, Brambell was back in 2006 in the Canadian lightweight four without a helmsman. In the line-up of John Sasi , Mike Lewis , Daniel Parsons and Iain Brambell, the boat reached fourth place at the World Championships in Eton . In 2007 Iain Brambell, Jon Beare, Mike Lewis and Daniel Parsons finished fourth again at the World Championships . In the same line-up, the Canadians won bronze at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing behind the Danes and the Poles.

Iain Brambell is married to the rower Laryssa Biesenthal .
