Ida Corr (born March 14, 1977 in Aarhus ) is a Danish singer with Gambian roots.

Career

At the age of eleven, Ida Corr won the first Danish Children's Grand Prix (Børne Melodi Grand Prix "MGP"). As a young adult she made experiences as a background singer for studio recordings and concerts etc. a. by Danish artists such as Gnags, Sanne Salomonsen , Thomas Helmig and Rasmus Nøhr.

2002 gained Corr notoriety in Denmark through regular appearances in popular TV show Venner for livet ( "Friends Forever") as a member of the short-lived girl group Sha Li Mar . The band released an album in the same year.

As a solo artist, Ida Corr made her breakthrough in her home country in 2004 with the release of her debut single U Make Me Wanna (featuring Ataf Khawaja). The following year she released her debut album Street Diva and in 2006 her second album Robosoul came out, on which she was also involved as a co-producer and songwriter. Late Night Bimbo , Lonely Girl and Let Me Think About It were released as singles from the last album .

She achieved worldwide fame in the summer of 2007 with the remix for the song Let Me Think About It produced by Fedde Le Grand . For this she shot a music video in London. With the single she was able to reach number 2 in Great Britain , in 2008 in the United States number 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay Charts and also in the German-speaking countries. The highest ranking in Germany was 14th place. The single stayed in the German sales charts for 40 weeks in 2008, making it the title that stayed in these charts for the longest. In 2009, 12 more weeks followed in the Top 100 single charts.

Corr is represented at the most famous festivals in Denmark, such as the Skanderborg Festival or Roskilde . She also took part in the Live Earth Concert 2007 in Amsterdam , Netherlands , where Corr and Fedde Le Grand presented their song Mirror 07-07-07 , which was created especially for Live Earth .

In 2008 Corr released her international debut album One in Scandinavia , the United States of America, Russia and France . A year later the album was also released in German-speaking countries. The album is a compilation of the best songs from their two previous solo albums, which also includes the last two singles Let Me Think About It and Ride My Tempo .

In parallel to her solo career, Ida Corr was also involved as lead singer in the international band SugaRush Beat Company , in which she participated from 2005 to 2009. In 2008 the three-piece band released their debut album SugaRush Beat Company on the British label RCA Records and digitally in the United States. The singles LOVE , They Said I Said and Love Breed emerged from the album .

In January 2009 she received, alongside Alphabeat, a prize for the best Danish artist in Europe at the European Border Breakers Awards in Groningen . On January 26, 2009, Ida Corr's second single Ride My Tempo from album One reached number 1 in the German Dance Charts. An official music video for the single was released in March 2009. With Time , a teaser single for the upcoming fourth album Under the Sun was released in Scandinavia in May 2009 . The "lead single" of the album was I Want You , which was released in Germany at the same time as the album One was released.

On December 16, 2009 Ida took part in a concert against climate change in Copenhagen , which took place during the UN climate change conference COP-15 . Together with Simon Mathew she sang the song Illusion , which was written by both artists for a WWF climate campaign.

On January 7, 2011, Corr, together with Kato, Camille Jones and Johnson, went straight to number 1 in the Danish single charts with their Danish-language single Sjus . Ida was fascinated by the idea of ​​singing songs in her mother tongue, so a few months later she decided to release a new single called Musen Efter Katten . At the same time Corr released the English-language single What Goes Around Comes Around with a music video worldwide .

In spring 2012, a collaboration was launched: See You Later by British DJ duo Bimbo Jones, which is composed of the original instrumental track Questions developed with vocals by Ida Corr in a new house track. It was followed by the next single Naughty Girl , which was recorded in both Danish and English. On August 20, 2012, Corr was announced as the new jury member in the Danish adaptation of the music show The X-Factor . From January 2013 she can be seen on DR1 alongside Anne Linnet and Thomas Blachman every week . In November 2012, Tonight I'm Your DJ featuring Fatman Scoop was released worldwide as a single, an English-language version by muses Efter Katten . This single was extracted from the compilation album Singled Out , which will be released in December 2012 in German-speaking countries.
