Idham Chalid

Idham Chalid (born August 27, 1921 in Satui , Kalimantan Selatan , Dutch East Indies ; † July 11, 2010 in Jakarta , Indonesia ) was an Indonesian politician who was a minister several times and between 1952 and 1984 chaired the executive committee of the Muslim legal scholars' organization Nahdlatul Ulama was, the largest Islamic non-governmental organization in the world.

Life

In 1952, Chalid succeeded Hasan Gipo as chairman of the executive committee of the Muslim legal scholars' organization Nahdlatul Ulama was, the largest Islamic non-governmental organization in the world. He held this position for 32 years and was replaced in 1984 by the future President of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid .

Chalid was on March 24, 1956 Vice Prime Minister (Wakil Perdana Menteri) and held this office until July 9, 1959. From February 22 to July 25, 1966 he was again Vice Prime Minister. As successor to Adam Malik , he became Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare on June 6, 1968 and remained in this position until March 28, 1973, when Sunawar Sukowati succeeded him. At the same time he took over the post of Minister for Social Affairs (Menteri Sosial) from Albert Mangaratus Tambunan , who died in office, on December 12, 1970 and remained in this position until he was replaced by Mohammad Syafa'at Mintaredja on September 11, 1971.

On October 28, 1971, he succeeded Abdul Haris Nasution as President of the People's Consultative Assembly (Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat) and held this post until he was replaced by Adam Malik on October 1, 1977. At the same time, on October 28, 1971, he succeeded Achmad Sjaichu spokesman for the House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat) and remained in this position until he was replaced by Adam Malik on October 1, 1977. Most recently, he was Wilopo's successor from 1978 until his replacement by Maraden Panggabean in 1983, Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council DPA (Dewan Pertimbangan Agung) .

On November 7, 2011, Idham Chalid was added to the list of Indonesian national heroes (Gelar Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia) by Presidential Resolution No. 113 / TK / 2011 . A 5000 rupiah banknote with his image was published in his honor in 2016 .
