Igl Compass ( Rhaeto-Romanic in the idiom Surmiran Igl for "der" and Compass from cumpass for "Kompass") is a mountain northwest of the Albula Pass in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland at an altitude of 3,016  m above sea level. M.

Location and surroundings

The Igl Compass belongs to the Kesch area, a subgroup of the Albula Alps . The summit is located entirely in the municipality of Bergün / Bravuogn , but the border with La Punt-Chamues-ch is only 87 m east of the summit. The Igl Compass is bordered in the south by the Albula valley and in the northwest by the Val Zavretta.

The neighboring peaks include the Piz Zavretta , the Piz Alvra and the Piz Üertsch .

Talort is Preda . A frequent starting point is the Albula Pass.

Summer routes

From Preda

  • Starting point: Preda ( 1789  m )
  • Via: Cuziranch, Alp Zavretta ( 2271  m ), Fuorcla Zavretta ( 2901  m )
  • Difficulty level: EB (B to Fuorcla Zavretta, marked as a white-red-white hiking trail .)
  • Time required: 3½ hours (20 minutes from Fuorcla Zavretta)
  • Alternative: You can climb up from Cuziranch to P.2550 and reach the Igl Compass via the west ridge

From the Albula Pass

  • Starting point: Albula Pass ( 2312  m )
  • Via: Terrassas
  • Difficulty: EB , to Fuorcla Zavretta marked as a white-red-white hiking trail .
  • Time required: 2 hours (20 minutes from Fuorcla Zavretta)
  • Alternative: For the descent you can go directly to the east from P.2787, where you reach a wide heap of rubble

  • Via: Summer path to Cuziranch, Alp Zavretta, then either following the stream or on the summer path east to Fuorcla Zavretta ( 2901  m ), ski depot on the northeast ridge
