Ignatz von Predl

Franz Jakob Josef Ignatz von Predl (born July 10, 1759 in Plattling , † 1806 in Vilsbiburg ) was a Bavarian administrative officer and amateur artist.

Ignatz von Predl came from a family from Plattling who had been the market clerk there since the early 18th century. He first studied at the Munich Drawing Academy , where he received a silver medal in 1775. However, at the behest of his family, he had to give up his art studies and enrolled in law at the University of Ingolstadt in 1780 . He completed his studies with a licentiate . In 1787 he married Veronika von Kärner and was given the Teisbach maintenance and caste department , based in Teisbach Castle. With the establishment of a provisional regional court in Teisbach in 1799, he became a regional judge until it was dissolved in 1803. From 1803 until his death in 1806 he was a district judge in Vilsbiburg . In addition to his official work, he was also artistically active as a draftsman and copperplate engraver; several copperplate engravings are known from him.

His children were the painter Katharina von Predl , married Grassis de Predl, (1790–1871) and the officer Franz Xaver von Predl (1795–1866), two other sons Georg Ignatz and Emanuel Martin died young in the war against Russia.
