Ignaz Heger

Ignaz Heger (born November 24, 1824 in Vienna ; † December 13, 1880 ibid) was an Austrian physician , technician and university professor . He was rector of the Vienna University of Technology .

Life

Ignaz Heger studied philosophy and medicine at the University of Vienna , where he 1848 Dr. med. PhD. After completing his studies, he worked as a doctor at various institutions in Vienna. In addition, he devoted himself to mathematical and analytical-mechanical studies. From 1853 he worked as an adjunct at the chair for higher mathematics at the University of Vienna. In 1865 he was appointed full professor of mechanical technology at the Imperial and Royal Polytechnic Institute .

In the academic years 1875/76 and 1876/77 he led the mechanical engineering school in succession to Karl Jenny as dean; in the academic year 1877/78 he was elected rector of the Vienna University of Technology . During his rectorate, new examination regulations with a (non-compulsory) state examination as a degree were introduced.

Heger was a corresponding member of the Imperial Academy of Sciences and a member of the kk Central calibration commission and the world exhibition commission .
