Ignaz Jacob Heger
Ignaz Jacob Heger (Czech Hynek Jakub Heber ; born July 5, 1808 in Polička , Bohemia ; † May 11, 1854 in Vienna ) was a Bohemian-Austrian stenographer .
Heger was a friend of Franz Xaver Gabelsberger . In 1842 he founded the first school for shorthand in Vienna and headed the first parliamentary stenographers office. From 1844, Heger developed a translation of Gabelsberger's shorthand for the Czech language and taught it at the universities in Vienna and Prague. In 1849 he published his short guide to shorthand for the four main Slavic languages , namely Czech, Polish, South Slavic and Russian. He also taught as a professor at the Polytechnic Institute .
In 1894 the Hegergasse in Vienna- Landstrasse (3rd district) was named after him.
