Ignaz Sowinski
Ignaz Stanislaus Sowinski (also Sowinsky; born August 30, 1858 in Cracow ; † July 20, 1917 ibid) was an Austrian architect of late historicism .
Life
Ignaz Sowinski was born as the son of a coffee house owner in the Austrian crown land of Galicia . From 1876 to 1881 he studied at the Technical University of Vienna with Heinrich von Ferstel and Karl König and then worked as a freelance architect. Ignaz Sowinski was married and died childless.

The Roman Catholic 1887 architect was awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the Reformed Church in Vienna . The originally classical building by the architect Gottlieb Nigelli received a neo-baroque facade, a church tower and street-side entrances from Sowinski . Together with Eduard Frauenfeld , Sowinsky was responsible for the construction of the Wilhelminenberg Palace in Ottakring from 1903 to 1908 . The building is based on the historical style of the Empire . In 1914, Sowinksi was appointed head of restoration work on the former Polish royal residence Wawel in Krakow. The busy architect also built several tenement houses in Vienna and was also active as a journalist.
