Ignaz Wilhelm Freiherr von Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht (born January 13, 1630 ; † August 5, 1688 ) was canon in Münster and Worms and cathedral dean in Speyer .

Life

Origin and family

Ignaz Wilhelm von Wolff-Metternich zu Gracht came from the family of Barons Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht as the son of Johann Adolf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht and his wife Maria Katharina von Hall . His father was a privy councilor and confidante of Duke Wolfgang Wilhelm von Jülich-Berg , the Cologne Elector Ferdinand of Bavaria and the Bavarian Electors Maximilian and Ferdinand Maria . Ignaz Wilhelm had 15 siblings. His brother Hermann Werner (1625–1704) was Prince-Bishop of Paderborn , Johann Wilhelm (1624–1694) cathedral dean in Mainz, provost in Mainz , Paderborn and Münster. His sister Anna Adriana (1621–1698) was the abbess of St. Maria in the Capitol in Cologne.

Act

On January 3, 1654, Ignaz Wilhelm was presented to the Münster prebend of the late Johann Ulrich Walpott von Bassenheim and sworn to the Wolff, Hochstaden, Hall and Walpott families . On December 11, 1656, he asked permission to continue his studies in Rome because of the rampant plague in Paris. He presented his degree certificate from the University of Paris on September 23, 1663. On January 2nd, 1677 he was elected cathedral dean in Speyer . He was also canon in Worms . Ignaz Wilhelm suffered from gout for a long time .
