Ignazio Zambito (born January 25, 1942 in Santo Stefano Quisquina , Agrigento Province , Sicily ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Patti .

biography

Ignazio Zambito was ordained a priest on July 3, 1966 .

On May 12, 1989 Ignazio Zambito was appointed Bishop of Patti by Pope John Paul II . He received the episcopal ordination on June 29, 1989 by the Archbishop of Palermo , Salvatore Cardinal Pappalardo . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Catania , Luigi Bommarito , and the Bishop Emeritus of Agrigento , Giuseppe Petralia . The inauguration took place on July 22nd of the same year in Patti Cathedral .

Ignazio Zambito was the delegate for missionary cooperation between the churches in the Sicilian Bishops' Conference .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on February 1, 2017.

He is a member of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and its prior of the Patti Commandery.
