Igor Dunkul ( Russian Игорь Гарриевич Дункул ; scientific transliteration Igor Garri'evič Dunkul, German transcription Igor Garrijewitsch Dunkul ; born October 23, 1958 in Murmansk , Soviet Union ) is a Russian - German composer and pianist .

Life

Igor Garrievich Dunkul is the son of naval officer Garry Ottovich Dunkul and Tamara Petrovna Dunkul. He started playing the piano at the age of five and took piano lessons at the Murmansk Music School No. 1 . His first teacher was Antonina Nikiforovna Volkowa (Russian: Антонина Никифоровна ВОЛКОВА). He graduated from the Mussorgsky Music School in Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербургское музыкальное училище имени М. П. Мусоргского) with Ella Abramovna Volpe.

He then studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with Natan Jefimowitsch Perelman . After completing his musical training, he worked in the St. Petersburg Music Hall and various Lenkonzert collectives from 1987.

From 1989 to 1991 he was a musician, composer and arranger in the orchestra of the State Circus in Saint Petersburg.

Since 1991 he has performed internationally in concerts, including a. in London , Berlin , Buenos Aires , Venice and Copenhagen . The repertoire of his concerts includes the music of Frederic Chopin , Edvard Grieg , Robert Schumann , Sergei Rachmaninoff , Alexander Scriabin and jazz - improvisation and his own compositions.

In 1994 he worked for 3 years at the Vaganova Ballet Academy and at the same time for 9 years at the St. Petersburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater MP Mussorgsky .

In 1995 the Russian ballerina Valentina Gannibalova wrote the choreography for the ballet "Anna Akhmatova" for his music. The premiere took place in the Hermitage Theater in St. Petersburg.

Dunkul founded the ensemble “Neue Klassik” in 1999, with whom he still performs today and with which he has recorded three albums.
