Igor Sadykov (born July 23, 1967 in Osh , Kyrgyz SSR ) is a former Soviet weightlifter who started for Germany in 1993.

Athletic career

Sadykov's first international competition was the 1990 World Cup in Budapest . In the 1st heavyweight up to 100 kg he started for the Soviet Union and achieved 400.0 kg (177.5 / 222.5 kg) and won silver in a duel behind Nicu Vlad with 412.5 kg and in front of his compatriot Sergej Kopitow , which also lifted 400.0 kg but was heavier.

After winning the European championship in 1991 with 405.0 kg, he increased to 415.0 kg (185.0 / 230.0 kg) at the world championship in Donaueschingen and thus won with a lead of 30 kg over the runner-up all three gold medals.

In 1992 Sadykov did not contest, making the 1993 World Cup in Melbourne his next stop. Here he started for Germany for the first time. In the new class up to 99 kg he lifted 392.5 kg (177.5 kg / 215.0 kg) and thus received bronze behind the Russians Tregubow and Syrzow with 407.5 kg each.

His first and only Olympic Games played Sadykov 1996 in Atlanta , where he finished 7th with 385.0 kg (177.5 kg / 207.5 kg). The winner was Akakios Kachiasvilis with 420.0 kg.

The 1997 European Championships in Rijeka were his last international competition. In the class up to 99 kg, he was able to secure gold with 177.5 kg in the snatch, but only reached 4th place with 377.5 kg in a duel after he was in Bump could only bring in his initial attempt of 200.0 kg and failed twice at 207.5 kg.
