Ihor Volodymyrowytsch Hus ( Ukrainian Ігор Володимирович Гузь ; born January 11, 1982 in Lutsk , Volyn Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is an independent Ukrainian politician , member of the 8th and 9th assemblies of the Verkhovna Rada , the Ukrainian parliament and delegate of Ukraine to the Black Sea Economic Cooperation .

Career

His family comes from the village of Swirsche, Chełmer Land on his mother's side , and from the village of Smidyn on his father's side in Stara Vyshivka district , Volhynia . He graduated from the general secondary school №19 in Lutsk and is a graduate of the Volyn State University of Lesya Ukrajinka , degree in political science , teacher of political science.

Political activities

Participation in the "Ukraine without Kuchma" campaign

In 2001 he was co-coordinator of the Volyn Department of the Committee For Truth! . On March 9, 2001, as an active member of Aktion Ukraine ohne Kuchma , which was triggered by the murder of Heorhi Gongadze , he took part in the attack on a police cordon for Kuchma's safety near the main building of the Taras Shevchenko National University in Kiev was built. For this he was beaten by the " Berkut " police unit, along with other students, and put in custody for a few days. After the action, Hus experienced about 10 interrogations by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Public Prosecutor's Office.

On March 15, 2018, in the Verkhovna Rada, he and other MPs called for parliament to pass a resolution on the rehabilitation of 17 activists who had been sentenced on the orders of President Kuchma.

"Chernobyl Way" campaign and imprisonment in Belarus

On March 26, 2005, Hus and other members of the National Alliance who supported the Belarusian opposition in the overthrow of the Lukashenko regime, along with hundreds of other activists, joined the protests. Even then, the demonstrators demanded the resignation of the Belarusian president and the release of imprisoned employees.

The protest action was strongly suppressed by the Belarusian riot police. Ihor and other demonstrators were arrested and detained in the Minsk remand center. They went on a hunger strike to protest and were not released for 10 days. Also because of participating in protests, all representatives of the National Alliance were deported from Belarus for 5 years.

More than 10 years later, as a representative of the people, he was not allowed to enter Belarus to take part in the rally "Chernobyl Way" (" Чернобыльский шлях "), a memorial march for the Chernobyl nuclear disaster . He was recognized as a convict by the human rights organization Amnesty International.

Work in the local self-government bodies

In March 2002, he was elected a member of the Lutsk City Council in constituency No. 44. He was a member of a commission responsible for youth, education and science. In March 2006 he was elected a Member of the Volyn Oblast Council on the list of the Our Ukraine electoral bloc . He was chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission on youth policy, sport and tourism. From 2007 to 2011 he was a regular advisor to the Mayor of Lutsk and head of the Department of Family and Youth Affairs of the Lutsk City Council. In October 2010 he was elected a member of the Volhyn Oblast Council in constituency No. 27 in Stara Vyshivka Raion . He was a member of the Budget, Finance and Pricing Commission. In 2014 he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Oblast Council.

Activities during the Euromaidan

He was one of the coordinators of the Euromaidan in Lutsk . In order to participate in the protests, the law enforcement authorities opened criminal proceedings against Ihor Hus for committing an offense under Art. 296 Part 2, 295, 341 Criminal Code of Ukraine. The politician was accused of endangering public order and of confiscating government or public buildings or structures ”.

On December 25, 2013, the Lutsk District Court, Ihor Hus, ruled, among other things, for the removal of a portrait of Viktor Yanukovych from the premises of the Volyn Oblast Council, an electronic bracelet and 60 days of house arrest to control the suspect's movement . But on December 30, 2013, the Volyn Oblast Court of Appeal ruled on reducing the preventive measures against the suspect.

Participation in the parliamentary elections

In the 2012 parliamentary elections he was a candidate for the Batkivshchyna party in the single constituency No. 21 (Kovel, Kovelskyj, Ratniwskyj, Starovyzhivskyj, Shatsky districts) and won more than 36.39% of the vote, losing less than one percent to Stepan Iwakhiw.

In the parliamentary elections in 2014 , he ran in an individual constituency no. 19 of the Popular Front ( Novovolynsk , Volodymyr-Volynskyi , Volodymyr-Volynskyi , ivanychi , Lyuboml ) and won with 30.69% (27,243) votes. In 2019 he ran for the by-elections to the Verkhovna Rada in constituency No. 19 as a self-nominee. According to the voting results of the state election commission, the current people's member has won 217 polling stations (97.7%) out of 222. The result of the vote resulted in support of 59.69%. 41 106 voters cast votes for him.

Prevented political activity abroad

On May 25, 2016, the People's Deputy was not allowed to travel to Transnistria to meet with the Ukrainian diaspora.

Activity in the Verkhovna Rada

While working in the Verkhovna Rada of the 8th convocation, Ihor Hus took part in the meetings, but did not take part in the impersonal votes. He is the deputy chairman of the Committee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Development in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 9th Convocation and has been a member of the “For the Future” group since August 29, 2019 .

Initiatives

In 2007 he initiated the all-Ukrainian Banderstat Festival. Today this is an established three day music event with international guests. In 2017, he initiated the two-day historical and cultural festival Knyazhyj in the village of Saritschtschja in Volodymyr-Wolynskyj Raion to stimulate tourism in the region and to promote music and literature. In 2017, on his initiative, the cross-triathlon competition Polissia Challenge Cup 2017 was started in Polesia / Volhynia with participants from all over Ukraine. In 2019, the Ukrainian Cross Triathlon Championship will be held for the third time.

Awards

Awarded by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for special achievements of the youth in the construction of Ukraine (2005).
