Iker Lecuona Gascón (born January 6, 2000 in Valencia ) is a Spanish motorcycle racer .

Career

Lecuona made his debut in the motorcycle world championship in the 2016 season on Kalex , when he replaced the injured Dominique Aegerter for two races in the CarXpert Interwetten team and then took his place until the end of the season. However, he could not end up in the points in the six races. In the 2017 season, Lecuona missed five of the first six races due to injury and achieved his best result with 14th place at the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang .

From 2018 onwards , Lecuona rode a KTM in the Moto2 category and achieved his first podium in the world championship in the 2018 season with a total of 80 points with a total of 80 points and second behind the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira at the season finale in Valencia . In the 2019 season he scored 90 points and again ranked 12th overall. At the last race of the season in Valencia, Lecuona made his debut in the MotoGP class when he replaced the injured Miguel Oliveira on the KTM Tech 3 Racing team . In 2020 Lecuona will compete permanently in the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team on a KTM RC16 in the top class. He retired from the first three races and got his first points in the MotoGP class with 9th place at the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg .
