Ilan Averbuch (* 1953 in Tel Aviv , Israel ) is an Israeli sculptor .

life and work

Averbuch studied sculpture in Great Britain and the USA . From 1977 to 1978 he was at the Wimbledon School of Art in London and from 1979 to 1981 at the School of Visual Arts in New York . In 1982 he received the Rhodes Family Award . He completed his art education from 1983 to 1985 at Hunter College in New York. From 1985 to 1986 he worked in Berlin .

Much of his work is Land Art . The materials he used were in combination with natural stone , wood , copper , lead , glass and aluminum . Averbuch's work can be found in public spaces in collections in the USA, Canada , Israel, India and Europe.

Averbuch lives and works in a former factory building in Long Iceland City ( Queens ) in the State of New York . Since 1980 he has been a lecturer at the State University of New York at Stony Brook .
