Ilan Ben-Dov (born June 24, 1959 in Israel ) is an Israeli diplomat .

Career

Ben-Dov received a bachelor's degree in political science, sociology and anthropology from Bar-Ilan University and a master's degree in international relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem . He also studied political science and international relations at the University of Vienna .

In 1986, Ben-Dov started as a Foreign Ministery Cadet in the training department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry. This was followed by positions in the North America, culture and science and the department for the United Nations and international organizations until 1990 . Between 1990 and 1995, Ben-Dov was second or first secretary in the Israeli embassy in Bonn . Then he returned to Israel and worked in the Western Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 1998. In 1998 Ben-Dov became Minister-Counselor and Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy in Vienna . In 2002 he became the Office Director for Information and Internet in the Department of Media and Public Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On August 29, 2005, Ben-Dov presented his accreditation to Singapore’s President Sellapan Ramanathan , succeeding Itzhak Shoham as Israel’s Ambassador to Singapore, who is also responsible for East Timor . In 2009, Ben-Dov passed the position on to Amira Arnon .

Ben-Dov is married and has three children. He speaks Hebrew, English and German.
