Ilias Ambrosiana , also Ilias picta , is the name for the fragments of a large-format illustrated manuscript from Homer's Iliad , which was produced around 500 in Alexandria , Egypt . The 51 fragments of parchment with 58 miniatures can now be found under the signature F 205 inf. in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan .

At the end of 1609 a paper manuscript from the 13th century came to the Ambrosiana with the library of the humanist Gian Vincenzo Pinelli . It contained scholias for the Iliad. 51 fragments depicting 58 scenes from the Iliad were glued onto the pages of the manuscript for illustration. After the detachment, it became apparent that on the back of the pictures, sections of the Homeric poem were written in capital letters, which was based on the old Roman uncial .
