The Ilya Muromets is the first of a new series of Russian icebreakers .

For the first time after 45 years in June 2016 was the launch of a new icebreaker for the Russian Navy . The drive of the 84 meter long ship is diesel-electric and the crew consists of 35 men. The ship should have a range of 9,000 nautical miles and be able to operate autonomously for 60 days. It bears the name of a hero from the Kiev Round Table, the most famous Bogatyr , Ilya Muromets .
