Life

Yashin graduated from the general education school with a deepened profile “Russian language and literature” and the art school. In 2000 he enrolled at the Institute for Political Science of the International Independent Ecological-Political University. In 2005 he defended his diploma on the methodology of organizing street protests , Jaschin's father was S. F. Chernyakhovsky, a member of the Academy of Political Sciences.

In 2007, Yashin entered the doctoral program of the State University - Higher School of Economics, Institute of Applied Political Science, under the academic direction of J.A. Niznevich.

Yashin is unmarried. In June 2012, news appeared in the Russian press that he was in a relationship with the television presenter and opposition activist Xenia Sobchak . However, on February 1, 2013, she surprisingly married the actor Maxim Witorgan in Moscow .

Political career

Yashin holds a one-man demonstration and calls for the resignation of Vladimir Putin

In 2000, Yashin joined the Yabloko party . From 2001 to 2005 he was head of Yabloko's Moscow youth movement. From 2005 to 2008 he was president of the Yabloko All-Russian youth movement. From 2003 to 2006 Yashin was a member of the Yabloko Regional Council, and from 2006 to 2008 a member of the party's federal office.

In December 2008, Yashin took part in the inaugural meeting of the democratic movement Solidarnost part and was elected to the office of the federal political council of Solidarnost. On December 18, 2008, Yashin was expelled from the Yabloko party by the Moscow regional council of Yabloko because he had "caused political damage" to the party. On December 20, 2009, the party's arbitration tribunal ordered his resumption, but under pressure from Grigori Jawlinski he was only expelled from the party a good hour, 40 minutes later, this time from the party meeting.

Yashin is one of the initiators of the " Putin must go " campaign aimed at the resignation of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin . After a one-man demonstration in favor of the campaign that he carried out in front of the White House in Moscow on November 18, 2010 , he was detained by Federalnaja Slushba Okhrany and later sentenced to a fine of 1,000 rubles.

In the regional elections in September 2015, Yashin ran in the Kostroma region , according to a report by the NZZ the only one of 11 regions where the party was allowed to participate in the elections. After a dirty campaign in which the candidates were referred to as foreign-controlled agents and, according to Kremlin critics, “numerous rule violations”, the party, and with it Ilya Yashin, failed at the five percent hurdle .

On August 30, 2016, Yashin published a report entitled “Criminal Russia Party”, in which he accused the United Russia party of close cooperation with organized crime . Since the 1990s, the party has given individual representatives and entire groups of organized crime access to political posts and government funds. The report mentions, among other things, the case of the serious criminal gang "Zapkow", whose members represented the United Russia party in Kushchevskaya and whose leader Sergei Zapok was elected local member of the party and was present at the inauguration of Dmitry Medvedev , which representatives United Russia party was denied. Individual politicians of the party are also listed, such as the head of the Komi Republic , Vyacheslav Gaiser , who was charged with forming criminal organizations and who was searched for a million US dollars, as well as other party members such as Anatoly Serdyukov and Adam Delimchanov .

In the spring of 2018 he decided to run for the mayoral elections of Moscow. Journalist Ksenia Kirillova cited the incident when Russian propaganda media exploited an "interrogation" of Yaschin's 84-year-old grandmother as an example of her unscrupulousness. Their hostility to democracy does not need a justification, because their hatred and a "state of war" with the whole world justify lower instincts.

Yashin was temporarily arrested in July 2019 when he was about to enroll in the city council elections.
