Ilona Buchsteiner

Ilona Buchsteiner , née Ballwanz , (born July 9, 1944 in Damgarten ; † December 4, 2003 in Rostock ) was a German historian , Germanist and teacher at the University of Rostock . She was the author and editor of books and essays on Mecklenburg and Pomerania agricultural history and on Thünen research .

Life

Ilona Buchsteiner was a lecturer at Rostock University from 1973 until her death. In 1995 she was appointed adjunct professor for modern history (focus on agricultural history). Her main research interests were nobility research , agricultural development after 1945 in the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR as well as the life and work of Johann Heinrich von Thünens.

Ilona Buchsteiner was co-editor of the journal for agricultural history and agricultural sociology . Among other things, she was a member of the historical commission for Mecklenburg , member and deputy chairwoman of the Thünengesellschaft eV in Tellow and a member of the inquiry commission of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania "Life in the GDR. Life after 1989 - reassessment and reconciliation". Ilona Buchsteiner was married and had three children.

Honors

In 1981 Ilona Buchsteiner was awarded the René Kuczynski Prize for Young Scientists for her best publication in the Yearbook for Economic History / 1980.
