Ilse Brandes , born Ilse Seelig (* December 4, 1897 in Altena , † December 22, 1997 in Hamburg ) was a German politician of the CDU .
Life and work
After graduating from a private school, Ilse Brandes, who was of Protestant faith, studied music in Berlin and Stuttgart . After the Second World War, she came to Lübeck from Berlin in 1945, widowed . She became involved as a volunteer refugee welfare officer for the needs of the displaced and became a member of the bizonal refugee advisory board . She was the deputy chairwoman of the Lübeck local branch of the International Women's League for Peace and Freedom . In 1955 she moved from Lübeck to Bonn .
Political party
Ilse Brandes was initially a member of the CDU after the Second World War. She was a member of the Refugee and Women's Committee for the British Zone. On April 12, 1950, she resigned from the party. She justified this with the fact that the CDU offered no prospect of fulfilling its view of equality for women and of a thorough refugee policy.
MPs
Brandes was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein from 1947 to 1950 and deputy second secretary there. Originally elected for the CDU, she resigned from the parliamentary group on April 8, 1950.
