Ilse Pompe-Niederführ (born June 26, 1904 in Vienna ; † May 20, 1986 ) was an Austrian sculptor.

Life

Ilse Pompe was trained from 1922 to 1924 at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna under Professors Franz Czisek and Anton Hanak and from 1924 to 1932 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna by Hans Bitterlich and Josef Müllner . From 1929 to 1931 she was an assistant to Professor Czisek and taught at the "Elizabeth Duncan School" in Salzburg in Schloss Kleßheim . In addition, she worked at the Dresden women's seminar and was an assistant in the architecture department of the TH Vienna for two years . From 1932 to 1935 she worked as a freelance artist in Prague , then until 1939 in Dresden , also in Pressburg, Krakow and Vienna . From 1942 to 1945 she held an assistant position at the Vienna Technical University, for which the connection with Hans Niederführ, the Ariseur of the Reinhardt Seminar , was at least not a hindrance, as she was considered an exponent of the "young plastic of the East Markets". From 1962 she was a member of the “Wiener Künstlerhaus”.

Ilse Pompe-Niederführ was married to Hans Niederführ (1902–1987), Max Reinhardt's secretary before 1938 , head of the Max Reinhardt Seminar from 1938 to 1945 and head of the Burgtheater's drama school from 1954 to 1959.

The artist's works include wooden sculptures, portrait busts, glass mosaics, the creation and restoration of tombs, restoration of stucco ceilings, consular ensembles , children's play sculptures and from 1978 almost exclusively portrait plaques.
