Ilya Mikhalchik
Ilya Mikhalchik ( Ukrainian Ілля Михальчик Illja Mychaltschyk ; born August 17, 1996 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian motorcycle racer .
Career
Ilya Mikhalchik started in the European Junior Cup in 2012 and 2013 as part of the Superbike World Championship and thus attracted international attention for the first time. In 2014 and 2015 he competed in the Superstock 600 European Championship on Kawasaki before taking part in the Supersport World Championship in 2016 . With David Salom's DS Junior Team , he took part in events in Europe with a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6 R. His best result was a sixth place at the race in Assen . In 2017 Mikhalchik drove in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup , also with a Kawasaki, and finished the season in 9th place overall. At the season finale in Jerez , he achieved his first international podium on a 1000cc racing machine with second place.
In 2018 Ilya Mikhalchik came to the IDM and started for the alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW team from Werner Daemen. He won nine of 14 races and celebrated the championship title 31 points ahead of Bastien Mackels . In the 2019 season he repeated his title win in the International German Motorcycle Championship with his BMW team. With eleven wins in 15 races, he ended up with a 115 point lead over his teammate Julian Puffe .
Mikhalchik has been racing in the FIM Endurance World Championship for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team since the 2019-2020 season , with whom he placed third at the Bol d'Or and the eight-hour race in Sepang when the team debuted in this series .
