At the International German Motorcycle Championship 2018 titles will be awarded in the IDM Superbike , IDM Supersport 600, IDM Superstock 600, IDM Supersport 300 and IDM Sidecar classes.

In September 2017, the discontinuation of the series at the end of the season was announced. The IVM then withdrew from the series, the continuation by Motor Presse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG as promoter of the IDM from the 2018 season was announced in December by press release. The aim of the new promoter is not only to keep the series alive, but to make it better known again and to strengthen the closeness to the fans. Since the 2018 season, Pirelli has been the sole tire supplier in all solo classes of the IDM and at the same time the title sponsor of the IDM.

In the 2018 season, for the first time in 40 years, no Yamaha Cup was held.

Superstock 600

useful information

Due to the cancellation of the Yamaha Cup , the Superstock 600 class was introduced in the IDM, which is closer to the series than the Supersport 600 and thus serves as a low-cost entry. The class is open to all manufacturers registered in the IDM. The drivers start together with the Supersport 600, but are scored separately. At the end of the season, a "German Champion" title is not awarded in this class, but a cup winner is chosen.

Teams

useful information

  • In the second race on the Circuit Zolder , the Sattler Motorsport team was deprived of their victory. Because the engine did not comply with the rules, the disqualification took place.
  • In contrast to the world championship for sidecars, in which 600 cc engines are used, the IDM continued to use 1000 cc, but sidecars with 600 cc were allowed.
