At the International German Motorcycle Championship 2017 titles will be awarded in the IDM Superbike , IDM Supersport 600, IDM Supersport 300 and IDM Sidecar classes. From the beginning of the 2017 season, the Motorsport working group in the Industrie-Verband Motorrad Deutschland eV (IVM) appeared as the new promoter of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) after the company MotorEvents GmbH withdrew at the end of the 2016 season.

In September 2017, the IVM announced the discontinuation of the series at the end of the season. In December, Motor Presse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG announced that it would act as a promoter for the series from the 2018 season.

Distribution of points

The champion is the driver who had accumulated the most points in the championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme: The world champion is the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. • Markus Reiterberger won 13 of the 14 races held. Only in the first race at the Nürburgring did he come second.

Frame race

• As part of the 2017 International German Motorcycle Championship, seven races for the Yamaha R6 Dunlop Cup took place. In addition, the Twin Cup and the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Cup were held as part of the supporting program.
