The Wilbers Products GmbH is a company specializing in the production of landing gears for motorcycles , located in Lower Saxony Nordhorn on the border with the Netherlands .

Company history

The company was founded in 1985 by the Dutch motorcycle racing driver Bernardus "Benny" Wilbers (also Bennie Wilbers ; * May 21, 1952), who is the company's managing director to this day.

Benny Wilbers started a motorcycle and motorcycle parts business in 1979 with his colleague Gerd-Heinz Zwafink (1951–2015) in Neuenhaus . Since there were no alternatives to the factory-installed spring systems for the motorcycle models with central spring struts that were becoming increasingly common at the time, in contrast to vehicles with conventional stereo oscillations, and the spring components installed by the manufacturer wear out more quickly, he recognized a market niche and concluded an import contract with White Power in 1984 Struts of the Suzuki GSX-R 750 , BMW K 100 RS and other road machines . He also had progressive fork springs wound. After founding his company in Nordhorn, Wilbers originally imported spring elements from the Dutch manufacturer White Power Suspension . After White Power terminated the supply contract in February 1998, the in-house “Technoflex” line began. For customers, he offered appointments for test drives on the Nürburgring . From 1991 onwards, Wilbers also included Eibach springs and Hagon stereo struts in its range.

In 1998 the subsidiary WPP Wilbers GmbH (Wilbers Products Production) was founded, which has since been responsible for the production and logistics of in-house products. Another branch of the company is Wilbers Technik. In 1999 Wilbers had around 2,500 different damper designs for 600 different motorcycle models in its range, which were already exported abroad.

Starting in 2009, Wilbers was the first manufacturer to be able to offer its customers an alternative to the ESA spring / damper systems introduced by BMW in 2005 that were electronically adjustable while driving with its "WESA" series . Here, WESA stands for "Wilbers-ESA". After three years of development, in 2017 the company launched the "LDC" strut (Level and Damping Control), a fully automatic, hydropneumatic level control system that offers a combination of level control and automatic adjustment of spring rate and damping and is not externally controlled with "Skyhook" as is the case with Continuous Damping Control (CDC) from ZF Sachs .

On January 1, 2018, Triple Tuning GmbH, also based in Nordhorn, merged as a wholly-owned subsidiary into Wilbers Products GmbH , which until then had been a subsidiary for Wilbers in the racing and workshop sectors, among other things. In the same year, the construction of a new utility hall with over 3,000 square meters of usable space began, which should be completed in 2019 and in future will house production and logistics in the immediate vicinity of the sales building.

With the "BMW Motorrad BoxerCup Promoted by Wilbers" the official new edition of the BMW BoxerCup starts in spring 2019 . The main sponsor is BMW Motorrad .

Racing teams

In the 2000s, Wilbers was represented with racing teams at FIM - Supersport World Championships and International German Motorcycle Championships (IDM). Since 2010 Wilbers Products has been running a motorsport team in the IDM with the Wilbers BMW Racing Team . In close cooperation with BMW-Motorrad and ZF Friedrichshafen , this team creates new developments that flow into the production of special motorsport chassis and road chassis.
