Immanuelkirche (Munich)
The Evangelical Lutheran Immanuelkirche is a modern church building in the Denning district of Munich . It stands on the northeastern outskirts between the Wilhelminian-style villa suburb of Bogenhausen and the trade fair town of Riem and has been part of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Immanuel-Nazareth since 2012.
Church building
The Immanuelkirche was built between 1965 and 1966 by the architects Franz Lichtblau and Ludwig Bauer and is one of Munich's modern sacred architecture. Because of the extremely tight building site, a building in the form of a tent roof and an 18 meter high campanile was built .
The altar fresco with an impressive crucifixion group was created by the painter Hubert Distler . He also designed the six window pictures made at the Mayer'schen Hofkunstanstalt in Munich. The principles (altar, altar cross, candlestick, baptismal font and pulpit) were created by the sculptor Karlheinz Hoffmann .
organ
The organ on the gallery was built in 1995 by the organ builder Johannes Rohlf . It replaces an electro-pneumatic instrument made by the Steinmeyer organ builder in the 1930s. The instrument has 23 registers and two effect registers on two manuals and pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
