Ines Widmann

Ines Hermine Widmann (name after marriage: Ines Hausleitner , born October 18, 1904 in Watschig / Carinthia , † September 2002 in Vienna ) was an Austrian writer .

Life

Ines Widmann attended a secondary school , where she passed the matriculation examination. She then completed an apprenticeship as a child and nurse in a deaconess institution . She practiced this profession; in addition, she worked temporarily as a secretary. She began writing stories in Carinthian dialect , which appeared in magazines from 1930. After the success of her first novel "Heimatmenschen", Widmann started working as a freelance writer in 1935 . In 1936 she became a member of the NSDAP and after the annexation of Austria to the German Reich in 1938 a member of the Reichsschrifttumskammer .

Ines Widmann was the author of novels, short stories, children's books and radio plays . At first, your works are to be classified as national literature. During the Third Reich, she wrote books strongly influenced by National Socialist ideology (her novel "Beate Krafft" was published in 1941 by Eher-Verlag , the central publishing house of the NSDAP, and in the same year she won the " Völkischer Beobachter " competition for a novel ). After 1945 Ines Widmann mainly published books for children and young people. Widmann died at the end of September 2002 in a nursing home in Vienna.
