Infection biology
The infection biology is the basic scientific branch of infectious diseases , as well as to the clinical infectious diseases belongs with patient care. It is an interdisciplinary science of bio-medical research. The focus is on research into the biology of viral, bacterial and protozoal infection processes . Understanding the immunological, cellular and molecular mechanisms that play an elementary role in infections with a pathogen enables the targeted development of new therapeutic and prophylactic measures.
Infection biology is based on many different individual disciplines: molecular virology and molecular biology , cellular and medical microbiology , infection immunology, RNA biology, lymphocyte development, molecular immunology , pathophysiology , pathogen systematics .
