Inge Jäger

Inge Jäger (born March 28, 1949 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian adult educator and politician ( SPÖ ). Jäger was a member of the National Council from 1996 to 2002 .

education and profession

Jäger attended the elementary school in Wels from 1955 to 1959 and the primary school for private girls run by the school sisters in Wels from 1959 to 1963. In 1963 she moved to the educational institution for kindergarten teachers of the Kreuzschwestern in Linz , which she graduated in 1967.

Jäger worked from 1967 to 1971 as a kindergarten teacher in Linz, Vienna and Lower Austria . From 1981 to 1988 Jäger was a housewife, did freelance educational work in adult education and was active in the trade union sector and in the field of information about the developing world. Between 1988 and 1995 Jäger was the managing director of the Austrian Information Service for Development Policy Upper Austria.

Inge Jäger is federal chairwoman of Südwind, chairwoman of BILY (families, youth and sexual counseling center in Linz) and board member of AWEPA (European Parliamentariens for Africa).

politics

The mother of two came to politics after 13 years as a housewife through the women's and anti-nuclear movement. In 1992, Jäger took over the position of deputy district party chairwoman of the SPÖ Grieskirchen - Eferding and in 1995 was a member of the SPÖ's federal party executive. From 1992 she was deputy regional women chairwoman of the SPÖ Upper Austria and from 1995 district women chairwoman of the SPÖ Grieskirchen-Eferding. From 2000 to 2003 she held the function of district party chairman of the SPÖ Grieskirchen-Eferding.

Jäger represented the SPÖ from January 15, 1996 to December 19, 2002 in the National Council. In the National Council election in 2002, despite gains by the SPÖ, she missed a basic mandate in the Hausruckviertel regional constituency and was no longer able to move into the National Council via the state list. Jäger was development policy spokeswoman for the SPÖ parliamentary club. From 1999 to 2003 she was also the chairwoman of the SPÖ's development policy group.

Private

Inge Jäger is married and has two children.
