Ingeborg Tepperwien

Ingeborg Tepperwien (born April 7, 1945 in Bad Sulza ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Life

Tepperwien studied law at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Tübingen . From 1969 to 1973 she was a research assistant for Horst Schröder in Tübingen. In 1972 she received her doctorate. Tepperwien worked in the Berlin judicial service from 1974 to 1992. She initially worked as a probationary judge at the Berlin Regional Court and the Tiergarten District Court before she was appointed judge at the Berlin Regional Court in 1977. After she had been seconded to the Senate for Antitrust Law at the Superior Court of Justice for nine months , she became chairwoman of a youth and youth protection chamber at the Berlin Regional Court in 1987 .

After her election as judge at the Federal Court of Justice in 1992, she was initially a member of the 4th Criminal Senate . She then worked in the 5th Criminal Senate and in the Cartel Senate. Since 2001 she has been the chairwoman of the 4th Criminal Senate. In addition to chairing the 4th Criminal Senate , she was a member of the Grand Senate of the Federal Court of Criminal Matters and, most recently, also the Chair of the Grand Senate. She retired on April 30, 2010.

Act

At the Federal Court of Justice, Tepperwien was significantly involved in the development of the highest court rulings on dangerous interference in road traffic and the predatory attack on motorists . The most famous of the cases negotiated under her chairmanship included the death of Oury Jalloh and the Pascal case . As chairman of the 18th criminal chamber, Tepperwien justified the setting in the fourth trial of the spectacular Schmücker trial on January 28, 1991 because of the "involvement and intervention of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution ". This ended the longest trial that the Federal Republic had ever experienced.

In addition to her judicial work, she was a member of the permanent deputation of the German Lawyers' Association and published specialist articles on questions of criminal procedure law .
