Ingeborga Dapkūnaitė (born January 20, 1963 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian actress .

Dapkūnaitė is one of the most popular actresses in her country and has also enjoyed international success outside of the Baltic States . She began her film career in 1986 in the Soviet Union . In 1994 she starred alongside Oleg Menshikov in Nikita Michalkow's Oscar- winning film The Sun That Deceives Us . Then she was cast in international productions for the first time. In 1996 she played a small role in Mission: Impossible by Brian De Palma and in 1997 the wife of Heinrich Harrer ( Brad Pitt ) in Seven Years in Tibet by Jean-Jacques Annaud . In her home country Lithuania she plays in the theater alongside her film work. In 2010 Dapkūnaitė was on the jury of the 67th Venice International Film Festival . In 2011 she played alongside John Malkovich at the Ruhr Festival in the chamber opera The Giacomo Variations by Michael Sturminger .
