Bachtijor Chudoinasarow ( Russian Бахтияр Бабаджанович Худойназаров , Bakhtiyar Babadschanowitsch Chudoinasarow; Tajik Бахтиёр Худойназаров , Bachtijor Chudoinasarow; * 29. May 1965 in Dushanbe , Tajik SSR , Soviet Union ; † 21st April 2015 in Berlin )) was a Tajik - Russian director and film producer . Occasionally his name is also given according to the English transcription in the spellings Bakhtyar or Bakhtiar Khudojnazarov .

Life

Bakhtiyor Chudoinasarow was born in 1965 in Dushanbe in what was then the Soviet Union. After finishing school, he worked as a television and radio journalist and at the same time began working as an assistant director at the republican film studio Tajikfilm . Fascinated by the medium of film, he applied to study with Igor Talankin at the State Institute for Cinematography in Moscow , graduating in 1989. His first own film was made at the institute in 1986, the short film Schutniki . He finally had his first successes in 1991 with his film Brothers , which was awarded as the best feature film at the Torino Film Festival at the time . In 1993, with New Game, New Luck , another film by Chudoinasarow was released, for which he received the Silver Lion for best director at the Venice Film Festival that same year .

For the first time, Luna Papa , which was released in 1999, was also well received by western audiences, starring Moritz Bleibtreu , Tschulpan Chamatowa and Ato Muchamedschanow . In the 2001 film My Sweet Home by the German-Greek director Filippos Tsitos , he was active for the first time in a short supporting role. Also in 2001 he won the Russian Film Prize Nika for directing Luna Papa .

In 1993 Chudoinasarow moved to Berlin, where he lived alternately with Moscow until his death. In the last years of his life, Chudojnasarow was also increasingly active in Russia for television and as a film producer.
