Chulpan khamatova ( Russian Чулпан Наильевна Хаматова [ tʃul̴pan nɐilʲjɪvnɐ xɐmatɐvɐ ]; scientific transliteration Culpan Nailjevna Chamatova * 1. October 1975 in Kazan , Tatar ASSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian actress of Tatar origin.

Life

Khamatova began studying mathematics and economics at the University of Kazan before moving to the Kazan Theater School. From there she went to the State Theater School (GITIS) in Moscow , where she completed her acting studies under Alexei Borodin in 1998 . Khamatova started her career with several roles at various Moscow theaters and in 1997 she first took a film role in the Russian film Vremja Tanzora (" The Time of the Dancer ").

Through the film Luna Papa by Bachtijor Chudoinasarow , in which Moritz Bleibtreu also played, she came into contact with the German film scene. Since her role in Tuvalu , she has also frequently worked for cinema and television productions in Germany. For her role in these two films, she has also received awards at international film festivals. The most successful film she starred in was Good Bye Lenin! , in which she played Lara, the friend of the main actor Alexander (played by Daniel Brühl ). Her vocation, however, is still acting, preferably at the Sovremennik Theater in Moscow.

Chamatowa was a member of the jury of the FilmFestival Cottbus - Festival of Eastern European Films 2003 and the Venice Film Festival 2006 .

In 2005 she and Dina Korsun initiated an annual benefit concert called “Podari schisn” (Give Life) for the therapy of children with oncological diseases. In 2006 she co-founded the charity fund of the same name. From 2008 to 2010 she was appointed to the Russian Social Chamber . In 2012 she was honored as a People's Artist of Russia .

From 1995 to 2002 she was married to the actor Ivan Volkov . She has three daughters from her three marriages. Khamatova converted to Russian Orthodox Christianity in her youth . She speaks Russian , English and German , but does not speak Tatar .

The name "Tschulpan" means morning star in the Tatar language . The English transcription Chulpan Khamatova is sometimes used in German films . In Tatar it is called Чулпан Наил кызы Хаматова (Transliteration: Çulpan Nail qızı Xamatova).

At the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she was one of the eight Olympic flag bearers.
