Ingibjörg Sigurðardóttir (born October 7, 1997 in Grindavík ) is an Icelandic soccer player who has been playing for the Swedish club Djurgården Damfotboll since 2018 .

Ingibjörg Sigurðardóttir grew up in Grindavík in southwest Iceland and joined the local association UMF Grindavík at a young age . She was considered a great talent even in her youth. On August 17, 2011, when she was only 13 years old, she played her first championship game against Þróttur Reykjavík in the highest Icelandic league for women, the Pepsideild kvenna .

In 2012, at the age of 14, she moved to competitor Breiðablik Kópavogur , the record champions in Icelandic women's football. Here she played first in the A and B youth of the club. In late August 2012 she played for the first time in the first team of Breiðablik. Until 2016 she played alternately in the youth and in the first women's team, then exclusively for the Pepsideild-Elf von Breiðablik. In December 2017 Ingibjörg announced that he would play for the Swedish club Djurgården Damfotboll from the 2018 season .

National team

At the age of 14, Ingibjörg was called up to the Icelandic U-17 team, which took part in a qualifying tournament for the 2012 U-17 European Women's Football Championship in Belgium . She played her first game for the U-17 on April 18, 2012 in Poperinge against the Belgian hosting team. Iceland won 3-1, but could not qualify for the EM. Ingibjörg also took part with the Icelandic U-17 in the qualifying tournaments for the 2014 Women's U-17 Football Championship in Moldova and Romania . The qualification for the EM did not succeed again. Her first appearance for Iceland's U19s dates back to March 2014, when her team played two friendly matches in Finland .

Ingibjörg played her first international match on June 8, 2017; in the 0-0 away game against Ireland , she played 90 minutes. Shortly thereafter, Ingibjörg was the second youngest member of the Icelandic senior national team at the Women's European Championship in the Netherlands . In the group matches against France and Switzerland, the 19-year-old was in the starting line-up.
