Ingolf Fuhrmann

Ingolf Fuhrmann (born January 24, 1931 in Breslau ) is a former officer of the National People's Army (NVA) of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Most recently he held the rank of major general .

Life

The son of an employee joined the German People's Police on March 1, 1949 after graduating from high school and joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1952 he served as a political officer in the barracked people's police . After the establishment of the NVA in 1956, he was deputy commander for political work in the C command of the 4th Panzer Regiment until 1958 . In 1958 he was promoted to chief instructor of the political administration in the Ministry of National Defense (MfNV), which he remained until 1961. Subsequently, from 1961 to 1963, Fuhrmann was head of the organization department of the main political administration in the MfNV. From 1964 to 1966 he attended the military academy of the NVA in Dresden as an officer's auditor and graduated as a social scientist. Fuhrmann rose to the position of deputy commander and head of the political department of the 11th Border Brigade in 1966 and remained in this position until 1968. From 1968 to 1981 he acted as head of the administration organization of the political headquarters of the NVA in the MfNV. In May 1976 he was a member of the Election Commission of the IX. Party congress of the SED. On October 7, 1977 he was appointed major general by the chairman of the GDR National Defense Council , Erich Honecker . From 1981 to 1990 he was director of the book and magazine distribution ( VEB ) of the NVA in Berlin. On April 30, 1990 he was released from the NVA.

Fuhrmann lives in Berlin.
