Ninne Olsson

Ninne Olsson (* 1945 in Helsingborg as Ingrid Olsson ) is a Swedish playwright , director and theater director .

life and work

Ninne Olsson initially trained as a journalist and worked for various Swedish daily newspapers, including Helsingborgs Dagblad and Expressen . She then studied drama, theater and film at Lund University . In 1973 she founded the October music theater group in Lund , which soon moved to Malmö . In 1978 the theater accepted an offer from the city of Södertälje to establish itself there as a communal institution. To this day, Ninne Olsson is the artistic director, author and director of the theater.

For the October Theater, as the stage has been officially called since 1978, Ninne Olsson wrote a series of dramas for children and adults. She integrated Aramaic and Finnish amateur actors at her house and developed her own plays with them, which, among other things, deal with everyday life in a multicultural society . Some of the October theater productions were filmed and shown on Swedish television . The 1976 film Sven Klangs kvintett ( Das Sven-Klang-Quintett ) about a dance band in Sweden in the 1950s won a Guldbagge , Sweden's national film award (special jury award for the entire team). She directed the film adaptation of the children's play Prins Hatt under jorden (1980; Prinz Hut unter der Erde ) based on a folk tale together with Peter Hald. Other productions that have appeared on television include Bouncers! (2000) and Vi har suttit på Molières stol (2005; We sat on Molières' chair).

Some of Ninne Olsson's theater texts, especially for children and young people, have been translated into several languages. A German version of Prins Hatt under jorden was published in 1982 under the title The Enchanted Prince . Her play Ont i magen (German version under the title stomach pain , 1989) was performed in several German-speaking theaters.

In addition to her stage work, Ninne Olsson also published prose books for a young audience. Her novel Lilian och jag (1999; Lilian and I) was nominated for the August Prize , the most prestigious Swedish literary prize. In her home country, Ninne Olsson is also known as a lyricist of songs that she wrote for various Swedish interpreters.

Awards

Ninne Olsson has received several awards for her work. She received the Allan Edwall Scholarship from the Swedish Theater Academy and the Swedish Academy Scholarship, among others .
