Ingrid de Oliveira (born May 7, 1996 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian water diver .

life and career

Ingrid de Oliveira was born on May 7, 1996 to Dona Nice and Oscar Pereira in Rio de Janeiro, where she grew up in modest circumstances in the Vista Alegre district . After initially working as a gymnast in the gymnastics department of Fluminense , she soon switched to the water divers, to which her older sister Erica also belonged. Due to her achievements, she was appointed to the Brazilian national diving team at a young age. After training with her team in China for six months and only returning home for a week before heading to Colombia for trainingwent, her mother fell ill with kidney disease. However, this was not communicated to the athlete during her absence. Only when she returned from Colombia, when her mother's health had deteriorated significantly and she had fallen into a coma, did she find out and was able to visit her mother in the hospital. She died a day later.

After living in Niterói for some time after her mother's death , she returned directly to the capital and was soon added to the Brazilian junior team. In the near future she often competed at various stations at the FINA Diving Grand Prix , where her partner at that time was Giovana Almeida , with whom she also won medals. After successfully qualifying, she took part in the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , China, in August 2014 , where she received no medals. This was followed by various other assignments at international tournaments and the FINA Diving Grand Prix. This was also the case in 2015, where she and her new dubbing partner Giovanna Pedroso won the bronze medal in synchronized jumping from the 10-meter tower in the central Mexican city of León . Furthermore, she won gold together with Luiz Felipe Outerelo in the mixed synchronized jumping from the 10-meter tower at the Grand Prix in San Juan in Puerto Rico , where she also won the silver medal in the synchronized jumping from the 10-meter tower (together with Pedroso) and the bronze medal won in the individual jumping from the 10-meter tower.

In addition to other tournament and Grand Prix appearances, she represented her home country at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto , Canada . Together with Giovanna Pedroso, she won the silver medal in synchronized jumping from the 10-meter tower behind the local heroes Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion . In the individual jump from the 10-meter tower, she only reached the sixth of eight places in the finals. Shortly before that, she took part in the 2015 World Swimming Championships in Kazan , Russia , where she was without medals. In the 10-meter synchronized competition, the two only finished 15th out of 16 and in the 10-meter individual competition, de Oliveira only finished 27th out of 37 places. In the mixed synchronized jumping from the 10-meter tower, she and her male jump partner Outerelo only made it to twelfth of 15 places.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in her hometown, she was hardly noticed by sporting achievements, but rather by a sex scandal in the Olympic village of Rio de Janeiro. One night before the competitions, she locked her jumping partner Giovanna Pedroso from the shared room in the Olympic village to have fun with the Brazilian canoeist Pedro "Pepe" Henrique Gonçalves da Silva . In the competitions that took place on the following day, de Oliveira and Pedroso took last place, whereupon the duo broke up. After that, de Oliveira competed in official competitions mainly in individual jumps of 3 and 10 meters, where she also won a few other medals.
