Inisfallen Ogham Text
The Inisfallen Ogham text is an entry in Ogham script in the Annals of Inisfallen , a chronicle of Ireland's medieval history . This Ogham text is recorded in Latin for the reporting year AD 1193.

The Annals of Inisfallen are now in the Bodleian Library , the university library of Oxford University , England . They were recorded by monks at Innisfallen Abbey , located on Innisfallen Island , County Kerry , Ireland , including the Ogham text. According to a report on the construction of the Brí Uis castle in 1193, the three-line Ogham entry follows, with the third line consisting only of a trunk line without letters. In this late medieval manuscript, periods are used as word separators . In the classic Ogham inscriptions on the Ogham stones from the 4th to 10th centuries, however, there are no word separations by dots or lines. This was only the case with some rune stones .

Specialty
The Latin Inisfallen Ogham text is one of the oldest entries in medieval manuscripts , along with the Bernese Ogham characters overview (around 800 AD) and the Vatican Ogham character series (12th century) . The oldest Irish-language Ogham entries in manuscripts date from the 14th century.
