The River Inny ( Irish Abhainn na hUíne ) is a river in County Cavan and County Longford in the Republic of Ireland . It rises near Oldcastle in County Meath , flows south from Lough Sheelin to Lough Derravaragh and from there west to the Shannon , which it reaches at Lough Ree .
The River Inny is a popular canoeing spot in Ireland because of its rapids and natural obstacles.
The largest town on its banks is Ballymahon in County Longford.
