Insoo Kim Berg

Insoo Kim Berg (born July 25, 1934 in Korea , † January 10, 2007 in Milwaukee ) was an American psychotherapist who had great influence in the fields of therapy , counseling , supervision and coaching . Insoo Kim Berg came to the USA at a young age and founded - together with her husband Steve de Shazer - the Brief Family Therapy Center , or BFTC for short, in Milwaukee in 1978 . Both are considered pioneers of the Solution Focused Approach or the solution-focused short-term therapy , which has become an essential part of systemic therapy . Steve de Shazer died in Vienna in September 2005, Insoo Kim Berg 16 months later. The BFTC had to close in December 2007.
