The Institute for Federalism Society under Civil Law is a scientific institute for research into federalism and the dissemination of the idea of ​​federalism, supported by the Austrian states of Lower Austria , Upper Austria , Salzburg , Tyrol and Vorarlberg . It is based in Innsbruck .

history

In 1975 an institute for research on federalism was founded at the University of Innsbruck by the sponsoring countries Vorarlberg and Tyrol. From the year it was founded until the end of 2000, it was headed by Peter Pernthaler , full professor at the Institute for Public Law, Financial Law and Political Science. His successor since 2001 is Peter Bußjäger . In 2003, Upper Austria joined the institute as the sponsoring country. On January 1, 2019, the federal states of Lower Austria and Salzburg also became part of the sponsoring states of the Institute for Federalism.
