Living and Housing

The main focus on life and housing deals with the socio-spatial requirements for self-determined and healthy aging. The living and living environment conditions significantly influence the life satisfaction and independence of older people. Above all, it depends on accessibility and the equipment of one's own apartment, easily accessible infrastructure as well as places and opportunities for social encounters and activities in the living area that are not equally accessible to all older people. For a beneficial design of the living environment, it is important to know and take into account the diverse needs of different older people. The IGF eV projects in this field deal with the demands of the aging society on the living conditions in the neighborhood from the point of view of all actors involved. Topics are the age-appropriate design of housing and living environment, the development of infrastructure and supply offers, opportunities for participation and participation, especially for socially disadvantaged older people - also in planning processes - as well as strategies for promoting health and exercise. In addition to basic research, the IGF eV team takes stock and deficit analyzes based on social space analyzes , (representative) surveys, interviews, focus groups, mobility diaries and other social science and planning methods. The recommendations and measures developed in this area are aimed at the target group and at cooperation partners from municipalities, the housing industry and free welfare organizations . Research projects in this area include the project "Self-determined Living and Participation in the Neighborhood (SWuTiQ)", which is funded by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds, the project "Specialists for Aging and Care in the Neighborhood (FAPiQ)", funded by the Ministry for Social affairs, health, integration and consumer protection Brandenburg as well as the care funds and the project "Primary preventive effects of the Märkisches Viertel network", which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Qualification and management

Under the keywords qualification and management, the IGF eV carries out studies in nursing and nursing education facilities, which are processed into recommendations for action and lead to advice and further training offers. The demographic development holds great future potential for the care industry, but also requires the further development of jobs and care structures. The industry needs highly qualified specialists and managers who are able to put forward-looking ideas and approaches in concepts and implement them in practice. These have to be found, trained and motivated. In addition to in-depth knowledge of current qualification requirements - also with a view to the upcoming generalist nursing training, sustainable strategies of personnel recruitment and development are necessary. The institute deals with issues relating to the qualification needs of nursing staff and managers, the development of soft skills and the further development of structural and organizational framework conditions for quality-based work and training in nursing facilities. The main focus is on professional educational requirements in nursing training, improving the quality of training at company level, and attracting and retaining skilled workers. In close cooperation with those involved in vocational training processes, the results of the (model) projects for care facilities and their providers, professional associations and politically responsible persons are prepared in the form of recommendations for action and work aids. These are made available at national level for educational institutions and through the German Reference Center for Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training ( DEQA-VET ) throughout Germany and Europe.
