International junior tour of Lower Saxony
The International Lower Saxony Tour for Juniors is an annual stage race for juniors.
history
The cycle race first took place in 2009 and has since been won by two Danes , two Germans and two Norwegians , as well as one Belgian and one Dutch . In addition to the five nations, a Russian , Pawel Siwakow , and a Mexican , Luis Villalobos Hernandez , made it into the top 3 of the tour.
The two winners Lasse Norman Hansen and Jasha Sütterlin each made the leap to a UCI World Tour team in 2014. Ruben Zepuntke made the leap into the World Tour in 2015. Nikias Arndt and Bob Jungels already got a place with Team Argos in 2013 - Shimano and RadioShack - Leopard and Pawel Siwakow have been driving for Team Sky since 2018 .
South African Ryan Felgate is the only rider to win two stages and Nikias Arndt is the rider with the most podiums in tour history and the only rider to have all three podiums. A total of 87 different drivers from 12 different nations made it onto the podium. The Danes managed 10, the Dutch 12, the Belgians 14 and the Germans 30 drivers on the podium. Soren Waerenskjold was the youngest at 17 years and 140 days and Martijn Degreve was the oldest winner of the tour at 18 years and 108 days. At 14 years and 231 days, Jonas Vingegaard Rasmussen was the youngest participant in the tour. Jan Brockhoff was the youngest at 16 years and 239 days on stage 2 of the 2011 edition and Lucas Liß was the oldest stage winner of the tour at 18 years and 194 days on stage 3 of the 2010 edition . In total, drivers from 24 nations competed, with Germany (361), Denmark (95) and the Netherlands (94) providing the most drivers.
