International choir competition Ave Verum

The international choir competition Ave Verum is an international choir competition in Baden (Lower Austria) that is organized by a non-profit association founded in 2010. The series of events, accompanied by a supporting program, was initiated by the chairman of the club, Wolfgang Ziegler, and is financed by entry fees, ticket sales and private and public sponsors.

Conditions of participation

Children, youth, women, men and mixed amateur choirs between 16 and 40 singers are admitted to the competition.

The vocal performances must be sung a cappella and a compulsory program (part A: works from the Renaissance or Baroque , Classical or Romantic periods or the 20th century , a work composed after 2000 and a unison compulsory song ) and a freely chosen, widely diversified program (part B "Grand Prix").

There are prizes for the compulsory program, the Grand Prix Ave Verum and special prizes for the best interpretation of a piece from the Renaissance or Baroque, also classical, romantic or 20th century as well as a piece composed after 2000. There is also a special award for the best repertoire, a conductor sponsorship award and an audience award.

Supporting program

In addition to an opening reception with final fireworks and a "Long Night of Choral Music", in which all participating choirs sing in a freely accessible concert for the audience award, a festive award ceremony in the Congress Casino Baden and an "After Competition Clubbing" for all participating choirs .
