The Interseroh Dienstleistungs GmbH is a provider of environmental services based in Cologne . The company is part of the ALBA Group .

history

A group of waste disposal companies founded Interseroh AG in Cologne in 1991. The company's aim was to recycle secondary raw materials as a guarantor for the Dual System Germany as well as the conception of industry solutions to ensure the return and recycling of transport packaging into the material cycle.

The background to the business model was the enactment of the Packaging Ordinance of June 12, 1991. With this ordinance, the legislature required manufacturers and distributors of packaging to take back, recycle and dispose of their products after they have been used. For the practical implementation of the ordinance, the dual system Germany was introduced in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1990 as a monopoly.

In 1993 Interseroh AG outsourced the operational business to Interseroh Dienstleistungs GmbH. From 1994 Interseroh expanded its business model and entered the metal and steel recycling sector, which developed into the company's second mainstay. This area was massively expanded in the following years. With the takeover of Hansa Recycling GmbH, Dortmund in 2001, Interseroh moved from fifth to third place among the largest steel recycling companies in Germany.

In 1997, Interseroh expanded outside of Germany with the establishment of the Austrian subsidiary EVA Capturing and Recovering Altstoffen GmbH as a system operator for Austria . Today it operates under Interseroh Austria GmbH. From Austria, Interseroh expanded to Slovenia , Poland , Croatia and Bosnia in the following years .

The stock corporation went public on June 22, 1998: five million shares were issued on the regulated market of the Frankfurt and Düsseldorf stock exchanges . From 2000 to 2010, the Interseroh share developed into one of the most successful securities of the decade with a price increase of 458%.

In 2000, Interseroh took over the take-back system “The Green Environment Box” for the collection of empty toner cartridges and mobile phones in companies, schools and kindergartens. In 2004, in competition with the Dual System Deutschland AG (DSD), the recycling company was granted permission to take back any packaging , initially in Hamburg . The previous monopoly in the waste business, DSD, had filed an unsuccessful complaint against this. Another waste disposal company, Landbell AG, had already received approval for the disposal of private waste in Hesse . The original monopoly position of the DSD was no longer given. When, in 2006, Baden-Württemberg was the last federal state to give further companies access to the waste disposal market, Interseroh GmbH was able to become active nationwide as a dual system.

In 2005, with the approval of the Federal Cartel Office , Interseroh was able to increase its stake in Westpfand Clearing GmbH , the first deposit system for one-way beverage packaging on the German market, to 51 percent. Together with Deutsche Pfand-Konzept GmbH, this resulted in Interseroh Pfand-System GmbH. Since then, it has been involved in the processing of goods and money flows for one-way deposits.

In 2008, Interseroh AG was converted into a stock corporation under European law , which operated as Interseroh SE. In the same year, it entered into a cooperation with the disposal and recycling company ALBA under the umbrella of the ALBA Group . In 2011, the metal and steel division was brought under the umbrella of the Alba Group. In the same year, the Interseroh shareholders agreed to a control and profit and loss transfer agreement between ALBA Group plc & Co. KG and Interseroh SE and in 2012 decided to change the name of Interseroh AG to Alba SE. This acts as an intermediate holding company for the Alba Group.

Within the Alba Group, Interseroh embodies the Services segment , which specializes in waste avoidance , product recycling , return of packaging, provision of secondary raw materials and reusable solutions. The Chinese family company Techcent took over 60 percent of this area from the Alba Group in 2016.
