Intracoastal City is a port city in Vermilion Parish in the US state of Louisiana , 13 miles south of Abbeville . It is located on the west bank of the Vermilion River near the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and is used by shipping from the Gulf of Mexico .
The port of the city is u. a. equipped with heliports , systems for the fish processing industry, pumping systems, oil tanks and dry docks .
